  2. Hey Scotty I just wanted to say "thank you!" I borrowed a friend's car, who is currently away, for a short road trip (only a few hundred miles) and my local mechanic said he'd need a day to look at it and return the car but I have to leave tonight. I was terrified of having my brakes fail on the road since I was unfamiliar with this problem. Hearing you confirm that it's a fail-safe system is so reassuring. I will now drive [carefully] with peace of mind.

  3. I have a abs problem once… I just disconect the abs light cable in the cluster. And I add som power from the oil lamp….yea im a junkyard mechanic… 🤫

  4. Been having abs problems on my 2000 Honda Civic, got the front senors all cleaned but the rear ones need to have the calipers, disc etc off in order to gain access to the them so I can't clean them to see if that fixes the problem as I'm getting no faults when I use a code reader.

  5. I am sorry to say Scotty Kilmer, but it is not true, YOU ARE WRONG, what you stated on the ABS going back to standard braking, it is a lye, IT JUST STOPS WORKING PERIOD and you may end up hitting someone on the road. If someone is selling you a car with ABS lights, DO NOT BUY IT! I followed Mr. Kilmer's advise and it bit me in the wallet. I purchased a car with a problems with the ABS by following his advise that it will work with standard braking, but after a month of owning the car, it does not stop at all. Also, It is A TOYOTA, the worst idea was to by this garbage of a car. Toyota Corp. does not even offer a RECALL or Extended Warranty to fix the problem that it has been running for 8 years and still does not want to fix it. I do not know how much money Toyota is giving to Mr. Kilmer's comments to praise Toyota for being a great company, but it must be a lot of money. The car has an error code C1391 that was pulled from an expensive diagnostic tool, like the one he has his hands on this video. The car makes a beeping noise that will not stop until the car is turned off. The worst is the cost to fix it, it cost $2,700.00 USD (Parts and Labor) at the Toyota Dealership and there is not a way around it, it is not a part that can be purchased at your local Auto Parts Store or Junk Yard, try ebay and search for Toyota 44510-48080 and check what comes out, google it and you will see the cost of a USED Part $1700. My advise is not to listen to this guy and 50 years of experience will not help if you have not dealt with the problem in front of you at all!

  6. Hi Scotty.. thanks for all you wisdom.. where do I ask a question about my 2002 Toyota Avalon? the anti-theft system is making me crazy & locks me out.. mechanic says he can take the receiver out of ignition.. what do you think?

  7. Will the car pass inspection with the Abs and brake light on ?? You say it's ok to drive but will it pass.

  8. My ABS light and traction light are going on and off. They told me today I need an ABS pump. Very expensive and I'm not going to do it. I'm not even convinced its the pump. In addition, I live in Florida so no ice/snow and I drive slow if at all in the rain. My car is a Lincoln 2007 MKX. Good car, low mileage. From what other mechanics have told me not going to spend the money.

  9. ABS came on tried everything even changing some wheels hubs that was scan out bad. Still nothing. ABS and Brake light come on can’t even drive the damn thing since I can’t pass an inspection on the damn car so it’s been parked since 2016!

  10. My parents never drove cars with abs when I was growing up and they were fine. Today it’s just so much crap.

  11. I had to replace the EBCM. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a rebuilt one, we got one from a junkyard, for $55. It was a pain to put it on. There was a lot of cussing out of these great engineers who designed the EBCM to never be replaced. I write this in case someone can find parts from a junkyard. Maybe checking there first will save money.

  12. I am changing knock sensor but the check light still on off. I have check all ther wiring which is okey. Please help me what to there is no professional in my area. Give me some idea plz
