  1. Because there’s no actual regulation (because its horrible and many times unscientific), exactly what happens at conversion camps can vary wildly from one “camp” to the next.

  2. There are several good documentaries out there, as well as the podcast Unerased that was released in conjunction with the movie Boy Erased (which is also a book)

I can’t remember the name of it, but there’s a documentary about a kid who escaped one his parents dragged him down to South America for. I guess some conversion camps left the US because we have some laws to protect our children.

  3. I haven’t been, but have heard much about them. Generally, they try to help you externalize the source of your homosexuality so you can let go of it. For example, you aren’t really gay, you just picked up feminine habits from your mom because your dad wasn’t around enough to teach you how to be a man.

These days, fewer and fewer are saying that they will make your “same-sex attractions” go completely away. Rather, they will be reduced enough that you will not be controlled by them and can therefore lead a relatively normal life.

  4. Lol it’s a religious zealots dream. Look if you’re gay “you are gay”. That’s it. Can’t pray it away. Can’t have it medically removed. There is no therapy to change it. Guess what? You are born that way. Period.
